SUMMER GATHERING AT CHAU RAM COUNTY PARK

The annual GNHA summer picnic took place on August 8 at Chau Ram County Park.  This little gem has a waterfall, a suspension bridge, nature trails, and a nearby disc golf course.  The recreation building was one of the nicest picnic shelter areas we’ve seen yet.  The weather was sunny with just enough cross-breeze and we were lucky with no rain or thunderstorms.

There were four hikes at different levels in the morning led by Charles Dial, Tom Poole, Lisa Britt, and Susan Starkey.  Afterwards, members were able to socialize with fellow hikers while our Master Chefs Joe and Mervyn braved the heat from both the sun and the grill to cook up hamburgers, vegan burgers, hot dogs and Bratwurst sausages.  Volunteers brought potato salads and a wide variety of sides and desserts.  No one went home hungry.

Many thanks to Joe Hayden and volunteers Karen Singh, Mervyn Singh, and Angie Hayden for putting on another wonderful social event for our hiking club.  And thanks to our hike leaders for organizing interesting hikes in the area.  As a volunteer-led organization, we appreciate our hike leaders, our Board members who serve, and our dedicated club members who organize and host these events..
