On March 7, 2026, we had the Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Rocky Bottom
Retreat. Highlights included hikes before the meeting, a guest speaker Interpretive
Ranger Tim Lee from the Mountain Bridge Wilderness Area, our recognition of hike
leaders and legacy members, club business including election of new Board of Directors
members, and our potluck lunch.
There were three hikes at different levels in the morning. Afterwards, members enjoyed
some relaxing time on the front deck chatting and catching up with fellow hikers. Our
lunch featured a wide variety of foods options including “crockpot delight” with hearty
chilis, side items, and delicious desserts suitable for all dietary needs. Our speaker was
both funny and informative as he spoke about and shared pictures of local flowers and
animals that are typical this time of year in the areas that we hike regularly.

Then it was time to get into the club’s business meeting. We took a moment of
remembrance for members who have passed away. We acknowledged legacy
members who have been in the club for 25 years or longer. And we recognized the
effort and commitment of our hike leaders, with gift cards of differing values depending
on the number of hikes led during 2025. There were a few hike leaders who have led
more than 25 hikes per year! We mentioned our upcoming calendar of events and
other updates. Then finally we elected our new Board members, including new VP and
Secretary, to replace those rolling off.
As a volunteer-led organization, we appreciate our hike leaders, our Board members
who serve, and our dedicated volunteers who organize and host these events.
