PRESERVING THE FOOTHILLS TRAIL

On May 16, volunteers from GNHA Hiking Club joined with members of the Foothills Trail Conservancy (FTC) for trail maintenance.  There were 12 volunteers improving the Foothills Trail near Table Rock State Park.  Work included trimming brush, root balls, installing steps, and repair of tread sections along the first three miles of the trail from Table Rock toward Bald Knob.

As part of our commitment for responsible stewardship, GNHA maintains a 10 mile section of the Foothills Trail from Sassafras to Table Rock.  We regularly have volunteer opportunities for trail maintenance in our dedicated section, as well as supporting other trail and campsite cleanup activities in partnership with the FTC.  We are planning another larger volunteer project in the Fall when temperatures are more moderate – check back for details!.
